When I look back on my childhood years,
I know I shouldn't complain,
because I know you too were hurting,
feeling the sadness and the pain.
Although there were some bad times,
the good memories were there too,
and when I think back to the best ones,
they all included you.
I remember dancing,
and the music that would play,
a framed family photo collage,
and a golden record on display.
Hundreds of coloured dots and threads,
on a world map to fill a wall,
a story of adventure,
to accompany them all.
With an immense love of animals,
you'd tell tales from the vet,
ancestry stories and a family tree,
old dusty photos to not forget.
I remember a trip to London,
to see the tower, dungeons and eye,
riding upon an open top bus,
watching the world pass us by.
Unforgettable family gatherings,
Mansion Lane, Wilmar Close,
sat by the pool in sunny Spain,
your little cabin near the coast.
Wandering the crisp green countryside,
feeding horses on winding paths,
spending the evening drinking champers,
so many good times, so many laughs.
I'm sad I'll never have the chance again,
to spend that time together,
you've always been an inspiration,
and I'll be grateful to you forever.
Thank you for your guidance,
That you gave throughout the years,
the life advice and strength portrayed,
the wiping away of tears.
It's time to say goodbye now,
as your time here in earth is done,
you will always be in our hearts and minds,
travel safely and say 'hi' to mum.
I will miss you auntie Morney,
more than words can ever say,
but I know you'll be there looking down,
watching over me, every day.
With love from Lucy xxx

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
